I took the Gale Lite 2 on a 3-day backpacking trip, and it turned out to be one of the most reliable tents I’ve used so far. For something that weighs just over a kilo, the stability is surprisingly good. The tunnel structure really makes a difference—during one windy night on an exposed ridge, the tent barely moved while other tents around us were shaking a lot more.

Setup is straightforward once you get used to the single-direction tunnel pole system. Inside, the headroom and usable length are better than I expected for an ultralight tent. Two people fit comfortably, and the extended floor and front vestibule gave us enough space to keep packs and boots dry without crowding our sleeping area.

We had steady rain on the second night, and the 10D double-silicone fly performed great—no leaks, no wet spots forming, and the inner stayed dry. The small details also show quality: the YKK waterproof zipper never snagged, and the Dyneema guy lines held tension well.

If I had to point out a small downside, it’s that the ultralight fabric requires a bit more care when packing up, but that’s expected for gear in this weight class.

Overall, the Gale Lite 2 is a solid choice if you want a tent that’s light enough for long miles but still tough enough for unpredictable mountain weather. I’d definitely take it on future multi-day hikes.
