We believe time outside can change how we move through the world.
It can bring us back to ourselves, closer to one another, and into a more attentive relationship with the places around us.
To Be the Wind is to move with awareness, freedom, and purpose.
Our role is to make thoughtful, lighter equipment that helps more people carry less, spend time outside, and stay present in the places they move through.
02 / Design brief
From British Columbia.
Designed around wet, windy conditions along the Pacific Northwest coast. British Columbia gives us a practical design brief.
Along the coast, moisture rarely arrives in only one form. Rain settles into the trail. Fog and wet brush keep equipment damp. Cool air, saturated ground, rough terrain, and fast weather changes compound over the course of a trip.
The Conditions Shape Every Design Decision. We ask how to reduce weight without adding a new problem when conditions turn wet and windy.

Feedback can influence a material choice, a construction detail, a feature, the instructions we provide, or the next version of a product.
01 Short trips. Light packs. Nights outside Weekend Backpacking
A night or two on the trail means carrying what you need for walking, eating, and sleeping outside. We listen to what makes these shorter trips easier, from packing at home to settling into camp.
What we listen for
Packed size, carrying comfort, ease of setup, and room to rest.
02 Changing weather. Varied terrain Mountain Trekking
Three-season mountain trips bring uneven trails, long climbs, and changing weather. We learn from how trekkers use their gear along the way and at camp, and what they would change after the trip.
What we listen for
Packability, setup in wet or windy conditions, managing damp gear, and wear from repeated trips.
03 Mile after mile. Night after night Long-Distance Hiking
On a long-distance hike, packing up, walking, and making camp become a daily routine. We listen to what stays useful over weeks on the trail, what needs repair, and what hikers would leave behind next time.
What we listen for
Carried weight, comfort over time, packing routines, wear, and repairs.

Performance Should Be More Accessible
We evaluate materials, components, and features against the product’s intended use. A material does not earn its place because it sounds technical, and a lighter option is not automatically the better option.
We sell directly to keep product information, pricing, and support closer to the product and the people who use it.
05 / Materials & responsibility
Because What's Under Your Tent Matters Too
A tent can help protect you from the weather. The ground beneath it matters too. They are soil, plants, water, and living systems—things our gear rests on and moves through.
We are continuing to explore lower-impact materials and processes while keeping function, useful life, repair, and evidence in view.
