Ultralight 2-Person Backpacking Tent | Horizon Lite 2 UL

Designed for three-season backpacking, long-distance hiking, camping, and bikepacking, the Horizon Lite 2 UL is a fully freestanding two-person double-wall tent with a minimum weight of just 1.16kg / 2.56lb. It is positioned between highly stripped-down ultralight shelters and heavier conventional freestanding tents, prioritizing lower carried weight while retaining a complete and practical two-person shelter structure. Its dual-door, dual-vestibule layout gives both occupants independent access and sheltered storage for packs, footwear, and wet gear.
The tent combines a full-mesh inner tent with a separate rainfly to support airflow throughout the shelter. The mesh inner provides a large area for air exchange, helping body heat and moisture escape. At the head and foot ends, the lower edges of the rainfly are raised to create larger low-level air inlets while maintaining the coverage needed for rain protection. The full-mesh inner, raised fly openings, and air gap between the two layers work together to promote ventilation and reduce moisture buildup inside the tent and on the underside of the fly, helping manage condensation and improve comfort in three-season conditions.
DAC FeatherLite™ NFL aluminum pole system provides a lightweight yet dependable frame for the fully freestanding structure. The intuitive pole layout, clip-based inner-tent attachment, and color-coded setup system make pitching quick and straightforward, including after a long day on the trail or in low-light conditions. Before final staking and guyline tensioning, the tent can also be lifted and repositioned as a complete structure, providing greater flexibility on hard ground, uneven terrain, and space-restricted campsites.
DAC J-Stakes, YKK zippers, and Dyneema® core guylines complete the shelter system, supporting secure anchoring, reliable operation, and stable fly tension through repeated field use. These proven lightweight components help reduce overall carried weight without compromising the practicality and dependability required for multi-day trips.
Rather than pursuing the lowest possible weight through aggressive reductions in structure, components, and everyday functionality, the Horizon Lite 2 UL retains a fully freestanding double-wall design, complete two-person functionality, dual doors and vestibules, effective airflow, dependable components, and straightforward setup. It is a three-season two-person backpacking tent designed for hikers who prioritize lower pack weight while still expecting reliable ventilation, condensation management, structural completeness, and practical usability.

FAQs

A footprint is optional, but recommended for rough ground like gravel, rocky sites, or exposed roots. It helps protect the tent floor and extend its lifespan. If you usually camp on grass or soft ground, you can use the tent without one — just choose your campsite carefully.

That’s one of the advantages of a freestanding tent. The tent body can stand on its own first, then you can secure it by weighting the corners with rocks or staking out whatever points are available.

The repair kit includes fabric repair patches and a pole repair sleeve. The patches can be used for small tears or damage to the tent fabric, while the repair sleeve is designed for emergency pole repairs in the field. If a pole section bends or cracks, simply slide the sleeve over the damaged area and secure it until you’re able to make a full repair or replacement later.

Yes. Its low packed weight and compact size make it a strong option for backpacking, bikepacking, and other fast-and-light trips where space and weight matter.
